If you haven't been to a retreat at the beach in North Carolina, I highly recommend you do!
In 2022, Catch the Wave Writing Retreat, hosted by Best Selling Author Lori Hayes, was held in Emerald Isle, NC. Except for getting there, it was an all-inclusive educational writing retreat that brought together a group of writers from all over the country. I honestly cannot say enough about what a wonderful time I had there!
In 2024, I attended the retreat again at an amazing beachfront home in Corolla, NC, on the Outer Banks. Lori hosted CTW at this same location again in 2025, but sadly, I wasn't able to attend...
This year, Catch the Wave offered a Mini-Writing Retreat in March in Ocean Isle Beach, NC, and will be hosting the main retreat here from October 1-5, 2026.

Lori Hayes is the creator of Catch the Wave Writing Retreats. She recently started the Writers Room, and I can personally say that when you commit and show up, you make progress! When I was attending online school for writing, I looked forward to my weekly class. For me, the structure and designated time were just what I needed. In just the first month, I have already written thousands of words that would probably not have made it onto the page yet. Accountability works, and it is well worth the cost. We currently meet on Tuesday evenings, 7:00 Eastern, 4:00 Pacific.
